About Amanda Cabral

I am currently the part-time Digital Content Developer at the Institute for Digital InnovAtion (IDIA) at George Mason University. In my position, I write and edit articles, manage the social media pages for the IDIA, and create content for and proofread the newsletter. This job allows me to use the skills I've learned in my journalism and communication degrees and, most recently, the skills I learned through obtaining my Master of Fine Arts degree in Film and Television Production.

At the heart of all of my work is the idea of storytelling. Whether I'm working on social media & branding, writing an article or script, or creating a film, my main focus is telling that company or character's story in a compelling way that keeps the audience engaged and wanting to come back for more.

My interest in marketing first started during my time at UConn, where I had two internships in marketing: at UConn's University Communications and at Goodspeed Musicals.  To me, there is nothing quite as rewarding as creating a brand and a message and utilizing various forms of print and digital media to convey that message to an audience.

My interest in film & television first started when I took a broadcast journalism class in high school and made several short videos. I explored narrative storytelling further in college by participating in the Entertainment department of UConn's student-run television station, UCTV. These experiences inspired me to obtain my Master of Fine Arts degree in Film & Television Production at Sacred Heart University. Through this degree, I gained valuable skills and experience in producing, writing, directing, shooting, and editing films.
